New Syrian FM to visit Iran as first foreign visit

Khatibzadeh said that Mekdad will meet his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif and also other officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad appointed Mekdad as the new foreign minister on November 22 to replace his predecessor Walid al-Muallem who passed away.
